Attention Orange Belts
As an orange belt, please
be aware that one of the requirements to be able to test for your
blue belt is that you have to be sparring in class. Thus, you need
safety gear. Minimum sparring equipment consists of head, hand and
foot gear along with a mouthpiece. Shin guards are also highly
recommended. One of the benefits of joining the Black Belt Club is
that you receive all of this safety equipment along with much, much
more in your Black Belt Club package. If you have received an
invitation to join the Black Belt Club, but you have not made an
appointment to discuss joining with Mr. Taylor yet, please simply
contact the school office. It is at least worth talking about. We
look forward to hearing from you.

Support Your Fellow Students and Parents!
If you are a parent or adult student of the Bushido
School of Karate, and own your own business, we would like to help
you reach more potential clients! We would like to start listing
contact information for the owners of businesses affiliated with BSK.
In this manner, students and parents would be able to find a
business owner they have at least one thing in common with, our
school! If you would like to have your business listed in our
newsletter, please email your name, the name of your business and all
pertinant contact information to bushido96@aol.com. We will list
these businesses in our monthly newsletter starting asap, if there is
sufficient interest. This system would allow your business to
contact over 400 families each month. We may also hi-light one of
these businesses each month is there is sufficient interest.

Special Kids Camp Ability; June 16th and July 21st
Mr. Taylor will be working with a very special group of
children and young adults at Camp Ability, a special needs summer
program sponsored by Special Kids. These short, fun classes will be
taught Fri. June 16th at 9am and again at 9:45am. The same classes
will be taught Fri. July 21st at 9am and 9:45am. If you would like
to help with these classes, please contact Mr. Taylor at
bushido96@aol.com. You could help demonstrate some moves, hold pads,
encourage the students and be there for support. Any student, adult
or junior is welcome to help. You can help with all four classes,
one class or whatever your schedule permits. Ik-kyus who are
scheduled for Black Belt testing Fall of 2017 are welcome to use
these hours as part of your community service requirement. Please
contact Mr. Taylor if you are interested, or have questions. These
classes will be held at the Northfield Blvd. Church of Christ.

(1st Degree Brown Belt) Conferences
All
Ik-Kyus are asked to attend one of these meetings in order to better
understand the Black Belt testing process. This is a great time for
students and parents to ask questions concerning the Black Belt
testing process. All Ik-Kyus are encouraged to attend. You may attend
any of the meetings at either location. Parents of Ik-Kyu students
also need to attend. The same material will be covered at all three
meetings. If you have previously attended a meeting, and would like
to attend again, you are certainly welcome to.

Summer Pizza Tickets
Starting June 1st, every
time a Junior or Kinder Karate student attends class they will
receive a ticket. This will go on until the end of July. You will
need to save your tickets. Lost tickets will not be replaced. If you
attend class an average of twice per week, then by the end of July
you should have 16 or more tickets. Once you have at least 16
tickets, you may come sign up for a pizza party, which will be held
in the Fall. This party is free and is intended to be a fun reward
for keeping up your attendance during the Summer months. Again, lost
tickets will not be replaced, it is your responsibility to keep track
of them. It is also not fair to others for anyone to give tickets to
another student, or to use tickets from a previous year.
*You must be an enrolled
student in order to attend the pizza party in the Fall. This means if
you are a Summer Program Student, and you do not continue with the
program at the end of July, you will not be able to attend this
party.
